Administration
Dear Connolly Families,
We are excited to celebrate Black History Month at Connolly with a variety of learning activities and celebrations. Throughout the month, our announcements will highlight important Black artists, achievers, and historical figures.
Submissions for our Black History Month art contest as due February 24 and details on the contest are attached to this post.
In coordination with our fine and performing arts department, we have arranged for Hip Hop dance workshops in early February. These workshops, led by esteemed educators from the American Street Dance Theater Company, will introduce students to the history and cultural impact of Hip Hop and Breakdancing.
Throughout the year, we assess our students using standardized measures to assess their growth and the efficacy of our programs. I am pleased to share a summary of our students' current performance and growth.
Between the Fall and Winter assessments, we expect students to make, on average, four months of growth. On average, Connolly students made seven months of growth in reading and six months of growth in math! This spectacular growth is a testament to our excellent teachers and the strong school-home connection our students appreciate. In addition, I am pleased to share that the school average is now above the grade level expectation for reading in all grades. In other words, our students are outpacing expectations both in their growth and achievement.
We are so proud of our learners and the progress they continue to make.
